Chiara Poscente & Zak Maytum
Co-Founders, Un-Natural Horsemanship
Un-Natural Horsemanship is the collaborative work of Chiara Poscente and Zak Maytum—two horsemen with a deep devotion to creating clarity, connection, and choice in the horse-human relationship. With roots in starting colts, liberty work, rehabilitation, biomechanics, and mindful movement, their shared approach is as grounded as it is heartfelt.
Chiara brings a lifetime of experience and a strong foundation in equine biomechanics, nervous system health, and conscious horsemanship. Her work focuses on supporting functional movement and emotional regulation—guiding both horse and human toward balance, understanding, and mutual trust.
Zak’s approach is quiet, clear, and highly intentional. A neurodivergent horseman with a background in research, colt-starting, and liberty, he helps humans distill their intention and communicate with empathy and precision. He has a gift for working with young, misunderstood, or exceptional horses—offering a grounded, compassionate space for growth.
Together, Chiara and Zak teach through presence rather than pressure. Their sessions are intuitive, adaptive, and always led by the horse. There are no formulas—only moments of learning, co-creation, and honest partnership.
With Un-Natural Horsemanship, their goal is simple: to help horses feel safer, humans feel clearer, and the connection between them feel more authentic than ever.
