Environment & Handling
Basic handling and environment shape soundness.
Turnout, footing, workload progression, and seasonal transitions influence joints, tendons, hooves, and behavior. Sudden changes often cause more issues than steady work. Providing our horses as much movement opportunities as possible in their daily environment, is crucial for both mental and physical health. Movement is medicine!
Before diagnosing deeper dysfunction — review the environment and their relationship to being handled.
Safe, cooperative handling isn’t optional — it’s part of responsible horse care. Preparing your horse to stand quietly, allow restraint, and tolerate routine procedures protects them, their care team, and anyone who may need to step in during an emergency.
